New traffic light in Lubbock goes into service

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Fire Department will open Fire Station 17 at 3241 63rd Street, and a new traffic control light has been put into service.

The Lubbock Fire Department will open Fire Station 17 for service to the community on Saturday, September 26th, 6:00 a.m.

The reasoning for the traffic light is to ensure the safety of the public and the firefighters as they enter Indiana Avenue. The light will be flashing continuously yellow on Indiana Avenue until approached by an emergency vehicle from Station 17, at which time, it will turn red.

A Grand Opening Ceremony for the new station will be held Tuesday, October 6th at 11:20 a.m.
