Motorcyclist killed in south Lubbock accident

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock Police Investigators say a motorcyclist died on scene Monday morning, following a collision at F.M. 1585 (130th Street) and Quaker Avenue.  Police released the name of the victim late Monday morning. He is Charles Castle, 37 of Lubbock.

Investigators say Castle was driving his motorcycle westbound on F.M. 1585 around 8:15 a.m. Monday when he was struck by an SUV in the intersection. Investigators say the SUV was southbound on Quaker, turning east onto F.M. 1585.  When the driver turned, police say they hit Castle.

Authorities say four teenagers were in the SUV headed to school. None of the teens were injured, but Castle was killed. The intersection is a two-way stop for traffic on Quaker, so the SUV did have a stop sign. There are no stop signs for traffic on F.M. 1585.

Authorities are still investigating. Right now, no one is charged in this accident. We'll have the latest tonight on NewsChannel 11 at six.
