CLOVIS, NM (KCBD) - A Clovis woman was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital after she sustained serious injuries during a major car accident.
Just before 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the Clovis Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a motor vehicle car crash with injuries in Clovis, New Mexico.
A female driver failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming Semi-tractor/trailer truck. The vehicle the female was driving spun out of control and was shoved into the side of the road after impact.
The driver was injured and taken to a Clovis hospital where it was determined that she had a broken back and required a neurosurgeon. The woman was airlifted to a Lubbock trauma hospital.
The woman's current condition is still unknown. The department is not releasing the driver's name at this time as she is an active duty military member at Cannon AFB and the department does not know for sure if her family has been contacted at this time.
The semi-truck driver was uninjured. Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
The investigation is still active by the Clovis Police Department Traffic Crash Team and charges are pending against the driver of the car at this time for failure to yield right of way on a left turn.
