Pedestrian Dies Crossing Loop

A Lubbock man trying to run across the West Loop 289 died Monday morning when he was hit by a truck. Sgt. John Tucker says Joshua Tatum ran across the southbound lanes near 4th St. The 23-year-old jumped the concrete barrier, but when he tried to cross the northbound lanes the truck ran into him. Tucker says Tatum died at the scene.

The 41-year-old driver of the truck was not injured.
