Update: Charges filed and names released in fatal stabbing

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock man is charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder after stabbing three people early Thursday morning.

An argument had occurred between the suspect and several others at a home in the 2000 block of 64th Street. The suspect pulled a knife and began stabbing victims.

Police say 27-year-old Ruben Garcia fatally stabbed 28-year-old Rudy Vela and 28-year-old Jessica Hernandez around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

Another woman, 36-year-old Rachael Diaz, was taken to University Medical Center with non life threatening injuries and released.

Police also found a 16-month old baby inside the home that was not harmed. Authorities tell NewsChannel 11 that the baby was returned to its parents.

Police arrested Garcia a few blocks away where he was walking on 61st and Avenue S. He was taken to UMC where he was treated for non life threatening injuries and released into police custody.

A short press conference will be held later Thursday morning as more information is develops.
