An area farmer has decided to help feed the South Plains on his own. On Tuesday, Harold Smith delivered 14,000 pounds of potatoes to the Maggie Trejo Center in north Lubbock to be given away to the public.
Dozens of people took advantage of Smith's generosity, filling up bags with as many potatoes as they could hold. Smith has provided his potatoes in the past to the Breedlove Dehydration Center and the South Plains Food Bank. Smith says that he's doing what he can to help ease the world's hunger.
