Covenant and United Supermarkets promote breast cancer awareness

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - October is here, and so is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Covenant Health System has teamed up with United Supermarkets in order to increase awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection.

Review the dates and times below to learn where you can pick up breast cancer information, mammography information and breast self-exam shower cards.

  • Monday, Oct. 5th from 2 - 5 p.m. at United Amigos, 112 N. University
  • Tuesday, Oct. 6th from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at United Supermarket, 82nd & Frankford
  • Wednesday, Oct. 7th from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at United Supermarket, 2630 Parkway Dr.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 7th from 2 - 5 p.m. at United Supermarket, 2703 82nd St.

One in eight women or 12.6 percent of all women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.  Breast cancer is very treatable if detected early.  More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.
