LUBBOCK, Texas (October 5, 2009) - The Sooner Athletic Conference awarded weekly volleyball honors to a pair of Lady Chaparrals, as Lubbock Christian University's Elissa Loynes earned Hitter of the Week and Courtney Yonke claimed Libero of the Week honors.
Loynes, a junior middle blocker from Kemah, Texas, averaged 4.4 kills per set and had a .588 attack percentage in home wins over Mid-America Christian and John Brown. She produced 11 kills in each match and also combined for two digs and four blocks in the two matches. Loynes currently leads the SAC and is fourth in the NAIA with a .415 kill percentage. The honor marks the third time Loynes has received the award this season, and she has received the award in consecutive weeks now.
Yonke, a senior libero from Lubbock, Texas, had 37 digs in two three-set matches for the week. She produced 19 digs in Saturday's win over John Brown. Yonke leads the team with 193 digs on the season. The award is the first honor received by Yonke this season.
