LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock is only a 40 minute drive from the self-proclaimed pumpkin capital of the world. So it seems a little ironic that local stores would struggle with a pumpkin shortage, but that's exactly what's going on.
The 2008 pumpkin crop nationwide led to a shortage of canned pumpkin puree. United Supermarkets says, "We have placed our orders to Libby and Food Club (our private label brand), but we are on allocation due to a shortage."
The 2009 pumpkin crop is expected to fix the problem.
