H-E-B donates trailer load of food to S.P. Food Bank in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - As a part of its ongoing support of hunger relief programs, food banks throughout Texas and The Texas Food Bank Network, H-E-B will donate a trailer load of food to the South Plains Food Bank through its Food Bank Assistance Program.

The total value of the donation is $30,000. The trailer load of food will arrive on Wednesday, October 7th at 11:30 a.m. at the South Plains Food Bank.

South Plains Food Bank provides food and hope for families in need in a 25-county area of West Texas. Through a network of 250 non-profit agencies and churches and two satellite food banks, the South Plains Food Bank serves the hungry in 40 counties.

The H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program is recognized on a state and national level for its continued support in addressing hunger in Texas.

The South Plains Food Bank will now be eligible to make future purchases under the benefit of The H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program, Food Purchase Program which is available to Texas food banks. Participating food banks can purchase staple items in pallet quantities through the Food Bank Food Purchase Program.

As an added bonus H-E-B will donate the freight costs associated with future load purchases.
