Update on Lubbock water line break

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock water crews continue repairs on large water line break at 18th and Avenue A.

The break has been isolated, and the water department says no homes are affected. It's a 16-inch cast iron pipe with a 15-foot split in the pipe.  The pipe is between 50 and 75-years-old.

Temperature changes could be to blame for the line break. Crews are estimating a 10-hour repair time.  They will do repair, but the section that is broken is part of the 34th Street line that will eventually be replaced.

The 34th Street water line turns on Avenue A then goes up to 18th Street.
