PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) - An accident on I-27, just south of Dimmitt Highway sent two men to hospital with serious injuries around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

An elderly man driving a gray Ford pickup truck failed to yield to a young man exiting I-27 in a gold Impala. The young man was reportedly heading to work at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. The two vehicles collided and came to rest against the fence lining the east side of the access road.

The elderly man was taken by ambulance to Covenant Hospital Plainview. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life rescue tool to free the young man from the crumpled car. He was airlifted to Lubbock.

The identities of the two men as well as their medical condition were not immediately released by investigating officers.
