LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce received a top award from the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives. The chamber received the honor of Governmental Affairs Program of the Year for its 'Let Lubbock Vote' Political Action Committee.
The chamber board of directors voted to form the PAC after a member survey showed 80% of its members wanted the chamber to get involved in a local option alcohol election petition effort. The chamber did not take a stance for or against alcohol sales. They just worked to get it on the ballot by collecting more than 25,000 signatures from Lubbock County voters in just nine days.
