City Council Takes Aim to Protect Kids

The City Council has passed a new ordinance to protect your kids. Starting Thursday (2.13), all ice cream truck drivers must go through a background check and have a permit to work.

Councilman Tom Martin says the intent of the ordinance is to make sure children are safe. "If we can prevent even one child from becoming a victim of a sex offender or child predator operating an ice cream truck sometime in the future. We would have done our job to protect the people of this community."

Currently the City requires taxi cab and limousine drivers to have a permit and go through background checks.
