The jaws of life were used Thursday to save a woman critically injured in a car accident in Lubbock.
The accident happened on the Slaton Highway at Martin Luther King Boulevard. Police say 51-year-old Martha Martinez was traveling Westbound at a high rate of speed on Slaton Highway. As the car was trying to enter on to the East Loop, police say it hit the rear end of the truck's trailer.
Martinez was taken to Covenant Medical Center, and has improved to satisfactory condition. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
