Neighbors say new construction zone in North Lubbock is dangerous


LUBBOCK TX (KCBD) - The signs are posted 45 miles per hour in the work zone but not many drivers are abiding to that signage. We got calls from neighbors complaining that drivers were speeding on the access road of the Loop near 4th Street, so NewsChannel 11 went to check it out and see for ourselves.

We had our photographer John Berry grab his speed zapper to track down the speeders. The average speed was about 50-55 mph, but a few speeders were caught traveling over 60.

One neighbor in that area says, "Every morning from 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock there's people running 60-65 mph down the access road fast enough that the loose rocks are coming up into the drive way."

Neighbors say the speeding has been a problem since the construction zone was posted a few weeks ago.
