LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Silent Wings Museum opens an exhibition, Reclaiming the Beauty of the Battlefields, that will feature a collection of photographs by Ann Weaver McDonald.
The exhibition will open October 13th and will continue through November 22nd. McDonald will host a short gallery talk as part of the Silent Wings Museum's annual Veterans Day Commemoration on November 11th.
McDonald's work emphasizes nature, beauty, and tranquility on ground soiled by some of the bloodiest battles of World War II.
Reclaiming the Beauty of the Battlefields features a collection of color prints covering the war in the Pacific Ocean from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to the Philippines and Singapore. The photographs show how nature heals the scars of the largest war in human history and how the tropical environments wash away the war's impact.
