Cancer runner pauses in Waco for Relay For Life Event

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Dustin Hucks, who is running across three states for cancer research, will pause in Waco for Relay For Life event.

Hucks, 29, is a runner and  cancer activist and is commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness month with a special stop along his three-state, 1,300 mile run. Hucks will take a break from his journey on Saturday to appear at Baylor University's American Cancer Society Relay for Life even in Waco.

Hucks left Los Angeles in August and will reunite with his terminally ill Aunt Debbie next month in Lubbock. Hucks has created a national following through his Web site, www.followtherun.org.

Alternating between running and hiking, Hucks recently enlisted a new road crew to help him along the way - he's weathered sickness and unpredictable weather over the last 60 days.

Hucks has worked to meet his goal to raise $1 million for cancer research.  He will participate in Saturday's Relay For Life event at Baylor's Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex.
