LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - As the nation deals with increasing numbers of flu cases, doctors are bracing for an onslaught of patients visiting the emergency rooms. Like many areas around the country, one Texas ER waiting room is filled to the maximum with sick patients waiting to see a doctor.
A new poll of nearly 90% of physicians worry they won't have the staffing or room to care for additional flu patients. In a poll of 1,000 ER doctors, 16 percent believed the United States government is doing everything possible to provide enough resources for them to be able to respond to a severe flu outbreak.
This poll studied 1,000 ER doctors and is published in the Journal of American College of Emergency Physicians.
