Texans ranked number one in WJCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

The South Plains College Texan basketball team was recently voted number one in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) coaches preseason basketball poll, edging out last year's champion and NJCAA runner-up Midland College. The Lady Texans were picked to finish fourth.

Returning from last year's squad for the Texans are Bo Ingram, Myles Walker, Tramar Sutherland, and Antwain Thomas. Each are very experienced as they all saw playing time in at least 30 games last season. When fans combine the experience returning with the talented pool of youngsters head coach Steve Green has brought in, there seems to be plenty of reason to be excited about the 2009-10 season.

Sajoyia Griffin and Christen McLee are the lone returners from last year's squad that finished second in the WJCAC and handed conference champion Midland College their lone loss of the season.

Fans of the Texans and Lady Texans have the opportunity to come out and ‘Meet the Texans' on Wednesday, November 4 at 5:30 p.m. prior to the Texans season opener versus Wayland Baptist tips off at 6:30 p.m. For details please visit the ‘Meet the Texans' page on the SPCTexan website.
