LISD home to 16 National Merit Commended students


LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - LISD is home to 16 students that have been named National Merit Commended Students by the college board.

These students have placed among the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the National Merit competition by taking the Preliminary Aptitude Test National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The commended students from Coronado are:

  • Suzanne Alkul
  • Alina Drigalenko
  • Stephanie Kirkland
  • Phillip Markle
  • James Moss
  • Alyssa Rainbolt
  • Jacqueline Scioli. 

The commended students from Lubbock High are: 

  • Henry Ekwaro-Osire
  • Stephen Garcia
  • Amy Gulick
  • Ashley Hebisen
  • Andrew Jiang
  • Hannah Lamb-Vines
  • Shanyi Shen
  • Tanli Sun.

The commended student from Monterey High School is:

  • Michael Mamlok

Last month, Lubbock ISD announced ten students named as National Merit Semifinalists.
