LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A 20th birthday bash is scheduled for a Lubbock middle school Thursday evening. Ed Irons Middle School opened to students in 1989. Thursday, you're invited to celebrate two decades of learning.
When Irons opened 20-years ago, it was Ed Irons Junior High. Now, it's a middle school with 6th through 8th grades instead of 7th through 9th. The district changed that in for the 2006, 2007 school year, so for a majority of alumni, things are a little different.
Still, principal Ken Casarez says memories don't change. "When you've been away from a building or place that's held a lot of memories for you that's so important in your educational career and you formative years, it's going to bring back a lot of memories," Casarez said.
Folks are invited to come out and reminisce about their times at Irons Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. with events lasting until 8:00 p.m. Events are on the patio, and the school's put together scrapbooks and a video to watch. You'll also be able to catch up with former teachers.
