Lubbock lowest unemployment in the state

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock is now the lowest in the State for unemployment. This learned after the September 2009 numbers were released by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Lubbock was second this summer, trailing only Amarillo. The unemployment rate for Amarillo rose from 5.6 percent to 5.8 percent.

Lubbock is at 5.7 percent unemployment, which is the same number that was reported for August.

Third lowest in the state is Midland with 6.2 percent unemployment, and fourth is Abilene with 6.3 percent unemployment.

The Texas seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose slightly to 8.2 percent in September, up from 8.0 percent a month ago, and continued to trend well below the U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 9.8 percent.
