United Supermarkets to build new distribution center

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - United Supermarkets will build a brand new distribution center and eventually create an estimated 120 new jobs.    The new center will be in Roanoke, which is near Fort Worth.   Right now, United's only distribution center is in Lubbock.   But United has built six new stores in the metroplex in just more than a year, for a total of 16 stores the Dallas Fort Worth market.

The new distribution center will also have an impact on Lubbock.   The company says the new 200,000 square foot facility will serve as a consolidation point for groceries headed to Lubbock.  Construction begins next month and should wrap up by September of 2010.
