LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Monday marks the first day you can cast your ballot for the November election. Voters will decide on 11 proposed amendments to the state constitution. Lubbock voters will also decide if four proposed bond projects will move forward.
Some early voting locations in Lubbock County open up at 8 a.m. All locations will be open by 10 a.m. Early voting runs from Monday through Friday, October 30th. Election day is November 3rd, and once again Lubbock County will use voting centers. "If you did not vote in early voting, the 12-days that we had open, then you could go to any of the 40 locations that we have available on election day," Dorothy Kennedy with the Lubbock County Elections Office said.
Multiple parks and recreation projects are on the bond proposals for Lubbock. Those include four splash parks at four city parks. A splash pad has no standing water. Typically there are ground nozzles that spray water upwards with other features that shower. The pads basically eliminate the need for lifeguards, because there's virtually no risks of drowning. Water features are usually controlled by sensors, so they only run for a limited time. The water for the pads will be treated and recycled.
Under that same parks and recreation heading, but listed as a seperate proposal, voters will decide whether to approve the second phase of the Youth Sports Complex out at F.M. 1585 and Milwaukee Ave. That's the 90-acre soccer complex, which would include 53-soccer fields.
