LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Tattoo artists may not like this because it defies the idea of permanent art, but there is a new ink already popular on the East Coast, that allows for tattoos to be more easily removed later with a laser.
"This ink is one hundred percent guaranteed to be removed and they are going to ask for FDA approval, said Myrna Armstrong, Ed.D., R.N., with TTUHSC, and the Regional Dean of the School of Nursing. This is a pigment that has been capsulized within a bead, a polymer bead and so therefore when a laser would attack the bead, it could break the ink and then separate it out."
Dr. Armstrong says the new ink, called Freedom 2 Ink, is not available in Lubbock yet, mainly because no artists have made the effort to bring it here. She also said even if the removal tattoo ink comes to Lubbock, remember that any tattoo carries a risk of Hepatitis if the needle is not clean.
