LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - President Obama promised change, he ordered federal prosecutors to stop going after authorized marijuana sellers and users, if they abide by state laws that legalize pot for medical use. That means in California, where medical marijuana is legal, and U.S. attorneys will no longer bust the people who sell or use marijuana, if they're authorized by law to have it.
"It is kind of an exciting moment for everyone who's worked in medical cannabis for years," says Adam Eidinger, a medical marijuana supporter.
Medical marijuana has been used to relieve nausea and improve appetite, particularly among cancer patients. Although opponents argue the sale of legalized pot is just a front for recreational drug use, activists are now hoping more states will ok the sale of pot for widespread medical treatment.
