Lubbock six-year-old makes difference in the fight against hunger

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Parsons Elementary student, along with her younger sister, are doing their part in the fight against hunger.

Six-year-old Kyrsten Washburn and her four-year-old little sister Aeryn, will be presenting the South Plains Food Bank Kids Cafe Program Director, Tammy Hester, with a donation on Tuesday.

Washburn asked her family if she could have a car wash to raise money for Kids Cafe, but her family convinced her that a car wash was a lot of work. So the sisters sold sodas at her family's garage sale.

The donation will be made at the Wilson Girls and Boys Club on 19th Street. Washburn and her little sister will tour the Kids Cafe site and will have their money-jar in hand.
