Council approves animal services measure

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Pet owners beware. If your animal is picked up for a second time by Animal Services, they'll never be the same.

There's a measure in place saying if your pet is picked up by animal services, you will have to pay kennel and vaccination fees for the first offense. On Tuesday, City Council approved that if a pet is picked a up a second time for roaming, the animal will be spayed or neutered before being given back to the owner.

Animal Services say this is to cut down on the number of stray animals in Lubbock. City Council did vote down a measure that would have required fees and permits for people wanting to sell animals from their homes.
