LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The school districts within Lubbock County will not get the H1N1 vaccine as scheduled.
According to a news release from the City of Lubbock, the Texas Department of State Health Services informed the City of Lubbock Health Department of the delay, saying the vaccine will not be in adequate supply for school vaccinations until December.
City Health officials have met with and remain in contact with Lubbock County school superintendents to address this issue.
The Texas Department of State Health Services states the following:
"The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is distributing vaccine according to the recommendations of the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), however there is insufficient supply at this time to vaccinate all members of the priority groups. Based on current projections, we do not expect sufficient quantities of vaccine for general/public clinics until December. If projections overestimate actual supply, it could be later."
