LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Obama administration says they're shipping out flu vaccines as fast as they can, but it's not enough. Federal officials are calling it a backup in the pipeline.
"Delay. Not shortage - delay," said Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security Secretary.
"Every day that they come in we're pushing them out the door," says Kathleen Sebelius, Health and Human Services Secretary.
Meanwhile, for people who get severe flu, the FDA says it is also speeding up testing and approval for antiviral medicines that go in through an IV, because officials say those drugs, when given early, can save lives.
