In an effort to safeguard children and youth in the future, the Catholic Diocese of Lubbock is bringing attention to abuse in the church. More than 350 people gathered on Monday at the Catholic Renewal Center for an all day seminar on detecting and preventing child abuse.
Priests, leaders, teachers, and administrators from 63 area catholic churches were part of a comprehensive workshop on what to look for and signs to question. "This day is a day for learning and to learn how to protect and create a safe environment for children and young adults," said Bishop Placido Rodriguez.
The workshop was thought of after the United States bishop meeting in Dallas last June.
