Raider fans rally for rival game

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. Saturday night against the Aggies, but Tech spirit definitely kicked off early this week for the big rivalry.

"Definitely game day hype is bigger than usual, every ones expecting to win. We've beat A&M for the last four years so it's another tradition we're beginning," said Saddle Tramps member Cameron Barber.

Raiderville has been here since Monday, and Thursday the Saddle Tramps started to wrap campus. Will Rogers is wrapped in raider red, and Soap Suds backside just happens to face College Station, the home of the Aggies.

The coach's bridge is also wrapped. "Before the game we do bell circles, then when we play UT and A&M each year at home we guard campus," said Barber.

They guard all of Tech's monuments, but we found one Aggie already eyeing Will Rogers. "I grew up here and decided to go to A&M and I'm a senior so I had to come to the last home game," said Aggie Elisabeth Braxton.

Although emotions run high for the game, some Aggies and Raiders have decided to put aside their differences. "We're all going to the game tomorrow. We're BBQing and we're tailgating but unfortunately with all Tech fans, so I think we're going to be the only people tailgating with them," said Braxton.

Raider fans are rallying for the rivalry by blacking out the Jones Saturday for the game. If Tech beats A&M it will be the fifth year in a row.
