LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Half of Lubbock's population uses Loop 289 daily, making it no surprise that getting on and off is a problem for motorists.
In an effort to fix that problem, the Texas Department of Transportation launched a new program called "Drive Friendly Lubbock, Let 'em on, Let 'em off."
The new campaign focuses on using the left and center lanes more.
Dianah Ascencio with the Texas Department of Transportation says, "Just to reduce congestion and get traffic flowing through there the best thing to do is when you merge onto the South Loop is to move into that middle or left lane."
TxDOT hopes the new campaign will make drivers more courteous next time they're on the loop.
