LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An experimental drug to treat type 2 diabetes may also help with weight loss. In a Danish study of more than 500 obese adults, those who took Liraglutide for five months lost about 15 pounds, compared to an average of 6 pounds in a placebo group.
The participants also restricted their diets and added exercise to their routines. The drug, which is given by injection, also reduced blood pressure. It's already approved in Europe to treat type2 diabetes, but here in the U.S., it's still under review by the FDA.
