Lubbock Meals on Wheels provides emergency winter meals

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock Meals on Wheels is providing emergency meals to the homebound, elderly and disabled people in the community.

These meals are distributed if the Lubbock Meals on Wheels deliveries are canceled due to inclement weather.

Through a grant from the Lubbock Lions Club, Meals on Wheels was able to purchase non-perishable, shelf-stable food items for 575 emergency boxes.

Each Lubbock Meals on Wheels recipient will receive an emergency box on Wednesday, October 28th starting at 10:45 a.m.

If the weather forces use of the first emergency meal box, a second meal will be provided for the remainder of the winter.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels is a private non-profit organization, preparing and delivering hot, nutritious noon-time meals, each weekday, to over 550 homebound, elderly, and disabled persons in Lubbock and Idalou.
