Employee fired after allegations of animal cruelty

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11 has learned a city animal shelter employee was fired after allegations of animal cruelty.

An email from a Lubbock citizen to several Lubbock officials accused the employee of not properly euthanizing a dog. The dog was found alive on September 14th, one day after it was supposed to be put down.

In response to our questions about the email a city staffer told us about the employee's termination yesterday. We were also able to confirm that many of the details in the email were true.

However, when we attempted to get an on-camera interview, city officials were advised not to talk about it by the new city attorney, Sam Medina.

The employee still has the right to appeal the termination.
