LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department has a message for Texas Tech fans going to the game Saturday, park in restricted areas you will be ticketed. This is the area police will be patrolling, the shoulder of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. TxDOT has put up signs along the freeway from University nearly to Indiana, saying the shoulder is a no parking zone.
"We're looking for voluntary compliance, for people to park in appropriate, allotted areas around the stadium as opposed to pulling off the freeway onto the dirt and into the grass," says Captain Greg Stevens with the Lubbock Police Department.
This comes after the realization that many pedestrians who go to the Tech games are parking on the shoulder and trying to cross the freeway, which is a safety hazard.
