LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The city has gone out for bids on an answering service. So, a real live person would answer the phone after hours and on weekends. At first it will only be for Animal Services however, the bid says, "The City has the right to add other departments as needed during the term of the contract."
The city does not say in the bid package how much it will spend. But according to some research we did on the Internet, 30 cents per call for simple answering forwarding and message taking is common.
The city expects 1,700 calls per month.
One potential bidder has already asked if it's okay to have a call center outside the United States. Bids are due November 18th.
Clarified November 2nd 11:07 am. At first the service will only be for the Animal Services Department.
