Accused serial rapist may be linked to Lubbock rapes

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - He is accused of drugging and raping multiple women in several states, police say three of his victims may be from Lubbock. Police say he is behind bars in Colorado.

Robert Howard Bruce of Pueblo, Colorado is accused of raping 11 women over a 15 year period. More recently, he is accused of trying to kill a police officer in Colorado.

Police say that in most cases, Bruce is accused of breaking into his victims' homes and holding a rag soaked in a chemical compound over their mouths to render them unconscious before raping them, dubbing him the "Ether Man."

Bruce has warrants for 44 counts of violent felonies, first and second-degree kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated burglary.

The man police suspect to be the "Ether Man" is now in custody. NewsChannel 11 is following this story and will bring you more tonight at 10.
