LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The first shipment of the H1N1 vaccine has arrived at the City of Lubbock Health Department.

There was only a minimal amount of the vaccine received. The Health Department will provide vaccines to the first 150 children ages 6-35 months only on Thursday, November 12th from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Health Department Auditorium.

A second clinic has been planned for children ages 3-5 years only on Tuesday, November 17th from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The amount of the vaccine available for this clinic is unknown at this time.

The children vaccinated at these clinics will require a second dose of vaccine in approximately one month. The date and time for this clinic will be announced and will be dependent on vaccine supply.

The Health Department has not received a vaccine shipment for the school based clinics. Once available the City of Lubbock Health Department will begin providing the vaccine to children in school settings. The amount of vaccine that will be received at any location is not known and when it is received the high-risk groups as listed by the Centers for Disease Control will be the first priority.

A complete shot record is required at the time immunizations are requested.
