LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Hale County Authorities arrested a County Commissioner who now stands indicted on two felony counts. The arrest of Commissioner Gary Koelder came Friday night, following an indictment yesterday morning for abuse of official capacity and theft of property by a public servant.
The Plainview Daily Herald reports that jailers booked Koelder into the Hale County Jail around 9:30 p.m. Friday night, and he posted a $15,000 bond around Midnight. Koelder's arrest follows this summer's guilty plea by Commissioner Neal Burnett. Burnett received 3 years probation for tampering with government records. A grand jury indicted him in December for using County credit cards to buy gas for his personal vehicle and misappropriating gas from the precinct barn.
