Lubbockites enjoy the Wine Festival while supporting a good cause

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -Several organizations teamed up this weekend for the 1st Annual Wine Festival in Downtown Lubbock where people not only enjoyed the wine and good weather, but took the time to make a donation to Toys for Tots.

Its the time of year when you start to see holiday decorations in the stores, and the only thing on most kids minds is what toy they hope to get on Christmas morning. The Lubbock Marine Corp predicts it will have nearly twice as many families to provide toys for with their annual Toys for Tots drive because of the economy.

To combat the increasing number of families this year, they have a new plan to encourage folks to donate. "Well as in the past we've just been excepting donations for money or toys or whatever. This year we are actually going to give a motorcycle away," said former Marine Gary Clevenger.

By buying a $20 raffle ticket you have a chance of winning a motorcycle, and it pays for 2 toys for a child to open Christmas morning.

"Yeah I bought a ticket for the bike but I mainly just bought it to support, you know, the Marines and stuff," said Max Callahan.

The Marines will be at the Wine festival again on Sunday to accept donations for Toys for Tots.
