LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - All or parts of 16 counties in the NewsChannel 11 viewing area are abnormally dry, according to the latest federal drought map. Officially Lubbock has 11.26 inches of rain this calendar year. The average for this time of year is 17.52, according to the Lubbock office of National Weather Service.
Austin is also abnormally dry with areas of moderate drought nearby. The area west of San Antonio is in severe drought. Also, there is one area of exceptional drought along the Texas coast.
