LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – If you're sick with the flu, your boss likely wants you to stay home so you don't expose others at work, but how can you afford to stay home if you don't get paid?  Over 57-million Americans have no paid sick leave.  This is why lawmakers are now introducing emergency legislation that would require employers to pay sick workers for up to seven days.

"Families shouldn't have to choose between staying healthy and making ends meet," said Sen. Christopher Dodd (D), who is a part of the Connecticut Senate Health Commission.

The problem is paid sick days may be a struggle for small businesses already suffering in this economy, but the house already has a bill.  The senate's bill is being written now and if it passes, guaranteed paid sick leave could be a reality within just two weeks after it is approved.
