Veterans' Day events in Lubbock


LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Many events are happening in Lubbock on this Veterans' Day. NewsChannel 11 has compiled a schedule of what's happening.

10:30 a.m. - Catholic Mass at Lubbock Area Veterans War Memorial 82nd & Nashville Avenue

10:30 a.m. - Veterans Day Service conducted by the Texas Tech Army ROTC program, Neil Chapel, Carillon Retirement Community 1717 Norfolk Avenue.

11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Silent Wings Museum program 6202 N. Interstate 27; 11:00 a.m. opening ceremonies; Noon, book signing by Ann McDonald, free access to museum; 5:30 p.m. reception.

Noon - American Legion program to honor veterans, Lubbock Area Veterans War Memorial, 82nd and Nashville Avenue

12:30 p.m. - Service for veterans, including speech by former prisoner of war Homer Jones, at Raider Ranch, 6806 43rd Street.

2:00-2:45 p.m. - The Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP), 1909 N. Akron, will recognize veterans during the fifth annual JJAEP Veterans Day Tribute, Keynote speaker will be Judge Bill Sowder, Lt. Colonel U.S. Army Reserve. The event will also include presentations by students and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard.

3:00 p.m. - Book signing and speech by Joe Galloway, co-author of "We Were Soldiers Once...And Young," Room 101 Mass Communications Building, Texas Tech University

6:30 p.m. - Book signing and speech by Joe Galloway, Senate Room of the Student Union Building, Texas Tech University.
