LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Kathy Irwin is the Crisis Team Leader for the Regional Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center here in Lubbock. She was our guest Wednesday on HealthWise at five to inform the public about a special course that is available to businesses and organizations that will help people spot the signs of mental illness in friends and family members, and teach how to react in a time of crisis.
Kathy explains, "It teaches us how to intervene with those individuals just like primary first aid would do. It allows someone to come in to be with a person, to have contact with the person and stay with that person until they can seek professional help on their own, or until professional mental health help can arrive."
MHMR will bring this mental illness seminar to your business or organization. If you would like to learn more about the services that they offer, please call the Lubbock Regional MHMR Center at (806) 766-0330.
