Low income adults receive free dental care at Civic Center

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Hundreds of folks on the South Plains received free dental care on Friday.

Texas Mission of Mercy held the clinic at the Civic Center with hundreds of volunteers from across the state helping to fill cavities, excavate teeth, and create acrylic partials for those missing teeth.

Many patients have spent years in pain because of dental problems, and say this will help them smile again.

"I'm gonna be able to eat real food instead of pasta. I'm so tired of pasta," says Karen Courtney. Courtney was one of the recipients of the free dental care.

The clinic will continue on Saturday for low income adults without dental insurance. It lasts from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

If you want treatment, you must be able to give a list of medications you are taking and a current medical history, and you must have time to wait, as most patients will be there for at least a few hours.
