Lubbock area plunges deeper into drought

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The dry conditions in Lubbock have gotten just a little bit worse in the last week.

The latest drought monitor from the federal government shows all or parts of the 16 counties in the NewsChannel 11’s viewing area are either abnormally dry or in moderate drought.  The moderate drought now includes parts of Lubbock County.  Lubbock is 6.4 inches below normal for our rain levels.

Areas near San Antonio and Austin have severe drought.  One area along the Texas coast has exceptional drought.
