LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock man accuses the Double Nickel Steakhouse of violating wage and hour laws.
Alex Imhoff filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of himself and several other employees. He claims that the Double Nickel relies on "tip pooling" to avoid paying employees minimum wage and also paid floor managers and bookkeepers out of the pooled tips. Imhoff claims the practice is invalid and the restaurant is prohibited from crediting tips toward payment of the minimum wage.
Double Nickel has not yet filed its side of the story in court records. We'll bring you the update when they do.
